FURminator

19/04/2013

All of the animals are shedding like crazy right now. Living in a city apartment, I notice that there is no place for the pet fur to hide. I am not just talking about small amounts of hair either, I am talking about little fur hills you can make with the “flyaway fur”!

Living with 2 dogs and 1 cat (plus all the various other rescues that come into the house), can take it’s toll on you when you are vacuuming every day.

There has to be a better way??

Introducing the FURminator (please tell me when I sound like an infomercial) .

Furminator-DeShedding-Tool-for-Dogs

What this rather nifty little pet brush does is remove the fur before it gets onto your floors, carpets and upholstery.

As soon as the product arrived, I took the dogs to the park and gave them a “fursession” pre dog park. I must say that I am impressed and rather embarrassed by the amount of fur that came out of my sweet little puppies.

Using the FURminator is very similar to using any other type of comb or brush but the difference is that you go over the same area again and again to make sure that all lose hair is removed. All the undercoat and loose hair that we don’t see is picked up and EJECTED with one touch of the “FURejector” button.

I spent approx 10 minutes on each dog and only stopped when hardly anything was being picked up by the comb. I really appreciated that FURminator had taken into consideration the need for a comfy handle at this point as my arms were beginning to ache.

Thankfully my dogs are fine with being brushed but the cat was a different story. “Chaos”, generally hates any kind of brushing or combing action and will have a little bit of a hissy fit when any such product approaches him. However, with the FURminator, there was no wiggling or pulling away. He just lay down and accepted his fate. He actually seemed to enjoy it as was purring and rubbing against the FURminator.

Do you have a FURminator? If so, how often do you use it? What was your dog’s shedding like before you got the tool?
