Men of The Vet School Calendar 2020

When you think of six packs, cuddly bunnies, hot men, and lots of dogs, what comes to mind first? The 2020 Men of the Vet School Calendar, of course!!

Cornell’s chapter of the veterinary fraternity, Omega Tau Sigma, is back again with a paws-itively terrific calendar you won’t want to miss! This calendar serves as a fundraiser for the Patient Assistance Fund at Cornell University’s Hospital for Animals as well as for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Many clients at Cornell University’s Hospital for Animals (CUHA) have found it challenging to afford the quality medical care their animals need.  Whether they are beloved pets, dedicated working animals, or valuable production animals, the patients at CUHA undergo a variety of necessary diagnostic tests and procedures and life saving treatments. Financially challenged clients may be forced to forgo these options, meaning valuable family members and companions are lost. The Patience Assistance Fund at CUHA was created in an effort to help clients afford the quality medical care their animals need. This fund subsidizes the cost of medical and surgical procedures at the hospital to benefit clients and patients with economic need, saving numerous animals and keeping many families together. Donations to the Patient Assistance Fund from calendar sales have totaled nearly $25,000, setting a new record for the largest contribution to the fund from a student organization.

New this year, donations from the Men of the Vet School Calendar are also helping to support Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB) raises and trains guide dogs (Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds) for blind or sight-impaired people. Some of the people who receive guide dogs may have other disabilities as well, such as deafness or the inability to use one or more limbs. All their services are offered completely free of charge to those in need. GEB was founded in 1954, and since then over 7000 guide dog teams have graduated from their program. It costs $50,000 to breed, raise, train, and match a guide dog, and support the team throughout the lifetime of the dog, so the donation to GEB from calendar sales will greatly help this organization to continue doing their work.

Aspiring to even greater goals, the fraternity hopes to raise even more money and reach a wider audience this year. First through fourth year veterinary students volunteer countless hours of their time and energy to make this possible, and they’re counting on you to help them reach their goals and benefit even more families.
