10 Tips for Firework Phobic Dogs

  1. Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise earlier in the day.

  2. Keep your dogs inside during fireworks

  3. Provide a safe place inside for your dogs to retreat. If your dog is comfortable in a crate, use that

  4. Keep the windows and curtains closed. Removing visual stimulation can also help calm dogs.

  5. Feed your dog a high carb meal

  6. Make sure all your dogs are wearing ID tags with a properly fitting collar.

  7. Leave your dog something fun to do – like a frozen Kong filled with his favorite treats.

  8. Use white noise or the radio/tv to drown out firework bangs

  9. Use a Calm Coat/Thunder Shirt to help reduce anxiety

  10. Never punish your dog if they are scared
