Ted lets me brush his teeth, and he tolerates it well but doesn’t like it. However, I like knowing that I won’t need to spend hundreds of dollars anytime soon to have his teeth cleaned again.

I was so remiss in brushing Henrietta’s teeth when I got her that now, 10 years later, she hates it and needs vet treatments for them. We are getting a new puppy in May and we will be brushing his teeth regularly. Great reminder

We had to start small with our older dog. Charlie took to tooth brushing right away. A yummy toothpaste and lots of treats always help! Great info!

Great post, I don’t like my teeth being brushed but it is so important! 🙂

Make sure you show your owners this post so they will give you some peanut butter or nom noms to get used to it

Layla hates it but I will not give in to her, her teeth were black when I got her from the shelter and 5 years later they are pearly white 🙂

Mr. N deals with it but it’s not his favorite. We brush his teeth every day.

Great post! Dental care is so important! Zoe and Phoenix get their teeth brushed daily!

We don’t manage daily but do it as often as I remember 😉
      Well done you

My Bentley LOVES to have his teeth brushed. If I show him his toothbrush, he will come running!

  9. Maureen says:

Yea, I’m guilty of not brushing nightly. Both dogs just hate it so I avoid it. Luckily, the vet feels like they both are doing great in this area.

We brush every other night….we gots to get on a nightly brushing! Thanks for this great reminder. Our pups do enjoy it – so it’s just me needing to get my stuff together!

Great How to video. I gotta get back in a routine of brushing the pups teeth!

I bet it’s easier than brushing the cat’s teeth. We’ve only just started doing this… and it’s not easy. Slow steps for us.

    • City Dog Expert says:

Our cats are so much better than the dogs when it comes to this.
It’s exactly the same method but instead of peanut butter you use tuna or bonito flakes

What a great way to start them out to get used to it and slowly work your way to the actual thing. Roxy won’t let me do it, but with my fingers, so we do that and a dental bone so she at least gets some.

Good reminder. Kilo is not keen but we try. He also chews his Bullwrinkles which does seem to remove some plaque. He hates the vet too.

Great information. It amazes me how many people DON’T do this.

We always brush 1 to 2 times a day. Such a firm believer.

Dental health is very important for both dogs and cats. I need to work on brushing Truffle and Brulee’s teeth.

Excellent post & great video! You’ve done a wonderful job showing that you really to need to do a slow introduction to teeth brushing for most dogs. I’m still struggling with teeth brushing but will take a few steps back and try it your way w/ the peanut butter – I love that idea!
